On Board with Pollinators: Becky Martin

March 10, 2025
Environmental conservation has been integral to Becky’s life. Before starting her career as a Sustainability Manager at Toyota Motors of North America, Becky completed a dual master’s degree for an MBA and MC in Environment focused on Sustainability. Her educational background gave her the skills to bridge environmental conservation strategies and business principals to drive landscape-scale biodiversity projects at Toyota.
Becky Martins journey in pollinator conservation started in the garden. While on a consulting project for the Burt’s Bees Foundation, Becky got to tour buzzing pollinator gardens in North Carolina and thus began her love for pollinators and protecting them.
Now, Becky and her team at Toyota work directly with Pollinator Partnership, World Wildlife Fund, and the National Environmental Education Foundation on the Toyota Pollinator Friendly Places initiative aiming to plant habitat in the monarch overwintering grounds in Mexico and with landowners in the U.S. and Canada. Toyota Pollinator Friendly Places contributes to Toyota’s greater biodiversity goal to enhance 26,000 acres of pollinator habitat by 2025. So far, the Toyota Pollinator Friendly Places initiative has resulted in about 14,000 acres.
Becky Martin’s professional career has enabled her to make a difference in pollinator habitat connectivity and global biodiversity efforts. She encourages everyone to start their own journey with education. Learning a little bit about bees, birds, bats, butterflies, and moths can open a world of wonder, observation, and discovery. Incorporating just a few pollinator-attracting plants in your yard can make a huge difference for your neighborhood pollinators.
